On behalf of the Hortonville Police Department, I would like to thank you for visiting our web site.

This web site will hopefully be able to answer some of your questions.  It contains a vast amount of information from parking tickets to neighborhood watch.

The Police Department believes and follows an “open door philosophy”.  With this we are able to establish a great working relationship with the community.  The community’s ideas and values reflect on the Police Department and how it functions.  This creates a positive working environment with the community, and enhances the quality of life in Hortonville.

I am extremely proud of our staff and their dedication to making Hortonville a safer and better place to live.  Our department includes 5 full-time Officers, 2 part-time Officers, and one Administrative Assistant as support staff.  The Hortonville Police Department is a full-service department that operates 7 days a week 24 hours a day.

One of our Officers is the Police School Liaison in the Hortonville Area School District.  The Police Department has a very close working relationship with the District which consists of three schools in Hortonville and two schools in Greenville.

Hortonville believes in the “community” and with this a strong working environment with the Police Department.

If you are ever in the area please visit Hortonville and don’t hesitate to talk to the Officers.

Sincerely,

Michael J. Sullivan, Chief of Police

Parking Questions:

Snow Season Parking.  From December 1 of each year until April 1 of the following year, no person except an emergency vehicle shall park any vehicle between 3:00am and 6:00am of any day on any street and STH15 in the Village unless permission is granted by the Hortonville Police Department.

What to do if you get a parking ticket:
Pay it within the 48 hours as stated on the parking ticket.  If it is not paid within the 48 hours the ticket will be considered “overdue” and the fine will increase.  Refusing to pay the citation within 28 days will result in registration suspension for the vehicle on which the citation was issued.

What to do if you want to take the parking ticket to court:
You must advise the Hortonville Police Department within the 28 days that you want to contest the ticket and you will be issued a state citation with a court date.  Appropriate costs will be added if you are found guilty of the contested citation.

Hortonville Municipal Court:

Municipal court is located in the lower level of Community Hall at 321 W. Main Street in the Village of Hortonville.  Court is held at 6:00 pm on the dates determined by the Judge.
The judge is The Honorable Norbert C. Dallman.

There is a drop box located outside of the Police Department in the hallway where fines can be placed.

If you have any questions you can contact the Municipal Court at 779-9542.

Community Policing:

The Hortonville Police Department is actively involved and strongly believes in “Community Orientated Policing”.  The Police Department received a community grant for pedestrian safety from the Department of Transportation for 2003.  This grant entails more enforcement and safety for pedestrians that live in or travel through the Village of Hortonville.

The Police Department strives for a proactive response to crime, and looks strongly towards community involvement to function effectively.
